About Us

 

The Dream Makers Education Foundation is a not-for-profit organization committed to supporting the educational aspirations of economically disadvantaged college students of color living in rural South Carolina.

 

In recognition of the importance of education and the enduring struggle of people of color, in general but specifically those living in rural South Carolina, the Dream Makers Project was launched in 2014.

The Dream Makers Project works in partnership with people to benefit college students of color in need of financial support. 

 

Vision

The Dream Makers Project envisions hope and change for individuals and communities through improving educational aspirations and opportunities for its brightest and best students.

 

Values

 The Dream Makers Project believes in the inherent worth and dignity of each person. We further believe in the spirit of generosity that creates abundance thus affirming the importance of sharing our good fortune with the less fortunate.

 

Support

We are seeking support from private donors, corporate and non-profit sources. We are grateful for your support and are honored to put it into helping young people of color who are economically disdadvantaged make their educational goals a reality. 

 

 

 

The DMP believes that we are all living the dreams of those who were committed to quality education for all South Carolinians.The objectives of the DMP is to provide scholarships and mentoring through fund development and partnering with community groups and institutions in the I-95 Corridor and beyond. The DMP is a part of the Dream Makers Education Foundation. The Foundation is an evolving philanthropic organization designed to support the educational needs of students of color, African American, American Indian, Asian American, and or Hispanic/Latino, in the state of South Carolina, but especially in the rural areas of South Carolina. The Foundation extends the vision of one of South Carolina’s staunch advocates, the Reverend Isaiah DeQuincey Newman, for justice and equity in human and civil rights, including education especially in rural South Carolina. The recipients awarded the scholarships will be known as ‘Newman Scholars.’
